thanku bear

i've downloaded a few simple ad blockers as i'm working to increase my internet security. ghostery now sits in my toolbar, with a small badge notification representing how many bad guys it's blocking. on most sites that number reads 3-8, a mix of ads and site analytics. but anytime i'm on bear blog, it reads 0.

i appreciate the simplicity and straightforwardness of bear blog for so many reasons. and while i already trusted that herman wasn't selling my data to google or amazon, it's refreshing to see my privacy respected in real time (especially when i'm pouring my heart out over here).

so thank you bear :)

notes:

  1. not all activity that ghostery blocks is inherently bad, aka not every site analytic or video player is collecting my personal information. but i'd rather block too many than not enough.
  2. i'm a newbie when it comes to internet privacy. i'm currently: moving away from google services (proton mail is one of the only other sites that ghostery doesn't find tracking activity on!). i've adjusted all available privacy settings on my devices, downloaded extensions like ghostery, and i'll be trying a vpn soon.
